WELCOME TO FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ILARO

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established at the inception of the Polytechnic in November 1979 to carry out a programme of study terminating in the award of the Nigerian National Diploma (NND) certificate in Mechanical Engineering. The policy change by the Federal Government in the training structure of technicians/technologists brought about the re-introduction of the traditional two-tier system of technological education comprising the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs. Summary of Profile

Engr Akeem Adekunle Adebesin was born on 25th day of October, 1972 in the ancient town of Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State in Nigeria. My flair for Engineering was ignited by my interest in secondary school as a science student at the famous Abeokuta Grammar School. I love entering the three science laboratories (Physics, Biology and Chemistry Laboratories). Results obtained from practical and their application in solving problems was of great interest to me. Hence, when I found out that Engineering involves application of principles, theories and laws of science to solve problems and enhance activities of human being and other creatures in universe, I made up my mind to be an Engineer.

Following the general belief that Polytechnic Education System could give a better practical oriented education when compared to University Educational System, I had my National Diploma and Higher National Diploma Certificates in Mechanical Engineering. However, to achieve my aim of becoming an Engineer and improve on my academic qualification, I had my Postgraduate Diploma Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Engineering Certificate in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering and currently a PhD research student at Lagos State University, Epe Campus.
