An Internal Audit Unit is an independent appraisal function established within an organization to examine and evaluate its activities as a service to the Management. The main objective of internal audit unit is to ensure that the internal control mechanisms of the institution are working effectively.
It is with these in mind that the Internal Audit Unit was established in 1980 with Mr. K. A. Shiyanbola as the acting head of the unit. In 1981, Mr. E. A. Adesola was appointed as the Ag. Head of the department. Mr. K. A. Esuruoso came in as the Head of the Unit in 1982 and served till year 2002 when he retired. After his retirement, Mr. O. A. Awosanya FCA was appointed in January, 2003 to head the unit and he is the Head/Chief Internal Auditor to date.
The unit has grown progressively from a unit with about four (4) staff to one with
