FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, ILARO HOLDS STATUTORY CONGREGATION MEETING.

The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, on Wednesday, 14th January 2026, held its statutory Congregation Meeting, bringing together eligible members of staff of the institution.

The Congregation, which convenes as the need arises, comprises of all academic staff and senior non-teaching staff who possess at least a first degree or its equivalent,  (HND). 

The meeting was well attended by members of the institution’s management, including Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and Units.

The meeting was chaired by the Rector of the institution, Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, FCA, FCTI, ACIS. In his opening remarks, the Rector expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the privilege of witnessing a new year, describing the institution as already blessed. He prayed for a prosperous year for all staff and the Polytechnic community.

Dr. Akinde appreciated staff members for their commitments, collaborations, and unflinching supports toward the smooth administration of the institution, noting that the achievements recorded by the management would not have been possible without the collective efforts of staff. He particularly commended the various staff unions in the institution for their cooperation and understanding.

The Rector extended special appreciation to junior staff who are not members of the Congregation, as well as outsourced staff including gardeners and other support workers, stressing that their contributions remain critical to the attainment of the Polytechnic’s goals and overall success.

Key issues discussed at the meeting spanned the recent official visitation by the Federal Ministry of Education in respect of the transition to Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI), security matters, and ongoing projects within the institution. 

Staff were adequately briefed on various developmental projects currently being executed across the campus.

Other agenda items included developments at the Polytechnic Staff Club, with management encouraging staff to actively participate in the club’s activities to enhance welfare and social interaction. 

Human capital development also featured prominently in the deliberations, with discussions centered on staff capacity building and institutional growth.

Security concerns were brought to the floor, during which  the Rector appreciated HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle Ashade Agunloye IV the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land. He also expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police,  Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for their timely interventions on security matters in the institution. 

Members of the Congregation engaged in an interactive session with the management, offering contributions and suggestions aimed at strengthening safety across the institution.

Closing the meeting, the Rector charged all staff to remain steadfast, united, and committed, noting that “with faith, diligence, and collective responsibility, the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro will continue to soar to greater heights of excellence, innovation, and national relevance.
