Introduction: ILPO is one of the front desk units of Rectory. It was established to serve as a dual-door; opening to link the Institution, the students, with the relevant external bodies and vice-visa

The core mandate of the unit and its responsibilities:

 1.    The core mandate of the Industrial Liaison and Placement office are;

 2.   Liaise between Industries and the Institution for the placement of Students for Industrial work experience as contained in the curriculum.

 3.   Supervise and monitor these students during the students Industrial Work Experience (SIWES)

 4.   Place, supervise and monitor students for the one year mandatory Industrial Training programme as pre-requisite for students progressing from ND to HND.

 5.    Mobilize graduating students with HND for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

 

The unit in order to fulfill all these mandates interfaces with the following;

National Board for Technical Education (NBTE): the supervisory body for the Institution towards delivery of relevant curricula.

Industrial Training Fund: The Industrial Training Fund supervises the exposure of students for skills acquisition and practical hand-on experience to consolidate theoretical teachings.

The Institution: This is achieved through various departments with clear input in their relevant curriculum as it relates with SIWES, IT and the NYSC scheme

The Unit’s interface-relationship with other units/department

The unit has an established relationship with all the departments in the Institution covering the placement of the students for NYSC, SIWES or I.T

ILPO works with the Academic unit of the Registry for students’ result before being released released for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

1)         AWOLESI, Jacob A.B.

Head of Unit

AWOLESI, Jacob A.B. is a Principal Lecturer seconded to head the ILPO UNIT from the Department of Quantity Surveying, The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, he holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management, a Fellow of The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FNIQS), a Registered Quantity Surveyor with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) and currently a Board member. He has presented over fifteen papers at local and international conferences, has ten academic articles published in reputable journals to his credit and has co-authored one standard textbook.

2)         Mr Ajayi Stephen K.

            Administrative Staff to the unit

            Ajayi Stephen K. is a Principal Executive Officer in the ILPO, he holds HND in Marketing.

3)         G.M.A. Alatishe

            Secretary to the unit

G.M.A Alatishe is an Asst. Chief Confidential Secretary in the ILPO, he holds a degree in Secretarial Administration, A Registered member of Nigeria Institute of Professional Secretaries (NIPS)
