FPI HOLDS 10th ANNUAL STAFF AWARD/PRIZE CEREMONY  SECURITY, CLEANERS AND  GARDENERS

The management of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, on Monday 16th February  2026 held its 10th Annual Staff Award/Prize Ceremony  at the Raheem Oloyo International Conference Centre of the institution, honouring outstanding security personnel, cleaners and gardeners for their dedication and commitment to service.

The ceremony, which has been sustained for a decade, forms part of the Polytechnic’s welfare initiative aimed at recognising and rewarding members of staff in the support services category.

In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Staff Award/Prize Committee, Dr. W. O. Akinleke, appreciated the management for  being consistently mindful of the welfare of the affected staff groups. 
He noted that beyond the annual awards, the institution has demonstrated commitment to their wellbeing through salary increments, training opportunities, establishment of a Cooperative Society and improved retirement benefits amog many others 

Dr. Akinleke also expressed gratitude to donors whose financial and material contributions supported the successful hosting of the 2026 edition of the programme.

In his address, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, FCA, FCIT, ACIS, described security personnel, cleaners and gardeners as critical to the growth and development of the institution. 

He stated that institutional progress cannot be achieved without a safe, clean and well-maintained environment.

The Rector also acknowledged the immediate past Rector, Arc. Olusegun Olanrewaju Aluko, Ph.D for initiating the Staff Award/Prize programme during his tenure, and pledged to sustain and strengthen the initiative. 

He assured the awardees of continued management support, provided they remain committed to their duties and to the institution.

The event also featured the recognition of worthy donors who have invested significantly in the award scheme. 

Such donors include ;
1. EDASAC Represented by Mrs. M. A. Yusuf; 
2. POLY International College represented by Dr. S. R. Muhammad; 
3. POLY Consults and Industrial Services represented by Dr. W. O. Akinleke, and 
4. Ilaro Poly Microfinance Bank represented by Alhaji Akintunde.

During the ceremony, star prizes were presented to outstanding staff across the three categories. 

In the Security category, motorcycles popularly known as “Okada” were awarded to
1. Mr. Abiala Tunde,
2. Mr. Mohammed Jelili
3. Mr. Jooda Modupe.

In the Cleaners category, grinding machines were presented to
1. Mrs. Ajibola Rebecca Abeke
2. Mrs. Amosu Omotayo Modupe 
3. Mrs. Oniyide Omotola Dorcas.

Mr. Femi Ige emerged as the Star Prize recipient in the Gardeners category.

In addition, consolation cash prizes were presented to other deserving staff members, including ;

2. Mr. Adewuyi Timothy
3. Mr. Akinyemi Joseph G 
4. Mr. Ajagbe Sunday
5. Mrs. Bamkole Sunday

9. Mrs. Falola Funke Sabainah
10. Mrs. Adigun Salamot Modupe
11. Mr. Akinwunmi Femi

13. Mr. Adeleye Tunde.

Principal officers of the Polytechnic, Deans and Directors, invited guests, as well as Chairman of SSANIP and the President of the SSANIP Cooperative Society were present at the ceremony.

The 10th edition of the Staff Award/Prize Ceremony ended with renewed euphoria of excitement joy and renewed commitment and dedication to duty
