In a bid to foster industrial readiness and enhance academic-industry collaboration, the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro organized the 2024 Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) orientation program for newly admitted National Diploma (ND1) students.

The event, held at the institution's main auditorium, saw an impressive turnout of eager students, faculty members, and industry stakeholders.

Osifade, highlighted a significant milestone for the institution, stating that, "We are pleased to announce that the number of participating SIWES Departments have increased from  twenty nine 29 to 38".
This expansion, according to him, reflects the institution's commitment to broadening the scope of practical, industry-relevant education available to its students.

Mr.  Ismail Osi, of the ILP office emphasized the objectives and importance of the SIWES program in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
"I urge all students to engage with this program with the utmost seriousness. This is an invaluable opportunity to interact with industries directly related to your fields of study, and it is essential for your professional growth and development.", Mr Osi advised.

The orientation exercise also featured representatives from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), who provided crucial insights into the expectations and regulations of the SIWES program.

They educated the students on the dos and don'ts, ensuring that they are well-prepared to make the most of their industrial placements.

The ITF officials highlighted the importance of adhering to industry standards and maintaining professional conduct during their training periods.

The participating students also expressed their enthusiasm for the program, recognizing the potential benefits of gaining 'hands-on' experience in their respective fields. " Moreso that their departmental SIWES Co-ordinators where on ground to give them the necessary supports.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to seek clarifications and further guidance on their upcoming industrial placements.

The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro continues to demonstrate its dedication to producing industry-ready graduates equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today's competitive job market.

Overall, the 2024 SIWES orientation program stands as a testament to the institution's proactive approach to integrating theoretical  (classroom) learning with practical (industrial) experience, setting a strong foundation for the professional expertise of its students.
