FPI (NOW FUTI) TRAINS ACADEMIC STAFF ON PEDAGOGY, EFFECTIVE TEACHING, AND CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT.

The Federal Polytechnic, now Federal University of Technology Ilaro, on Tuesday, 13th January 2026, held an intensive capacity-building training on pedagogy, effective learning strategies, and classroom management for academic staff. 

The training, organized by the Directorate of Training and Development (UNESCO–NBTE Center), took place at the Raheem Oloyo International Conference Centre of the institution.

In his opening address, the Rector, Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, (FCA, FCIT, ACIS), charged academic staff, particularly new intakes to demonstrate total commitment to their duties and uphold the Polytechnic’s culture of excellence. 

He stressed that the institution would not tolerate laxity or lackadaisical attitudes, adding that appropriate sanctions await staff who fail to meet expected standards. 

The Rector equally emphasized that the Polytechnic operates a robust reward system that recognizes and appreciates outstanding staff performance.

Facilitating the first sessions, Prof. Lanre Adepoju of Obafemi Awolowo University, delivered an enlightening presentation on “Effective Lesson Planning and Delivery Strategies.” 
He later took a second session on “Interactive and Participatory Teaching Methods,” highlighting the need to encourage active student involvement, critical thinking, and collaborative learning approaches that enhance knowledge retention.

The second facilitator, Dr. (Mrs.) O. E. Oduntan, of Federal Polytechnic Ilaro spoke on “Managing Classroom Dynamics and Maintaining a Conducive Learning Environment.”
