FPI SAYS NO TO NATIONWIDE PROTEST
Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro today made known the stand of the institution regarding the proposed nationwide protest, urging students to remain calm as regular academic activities continue, uninterrupted in the Institution.
This was
made known by the Rector during a one-day Student Leadership Training, organized by the Guidance and Counseling Committee of the Institution
The Deputy Rector, Academic, Dr. C. B Iro Idoro who represented the Rector, Dr. Mikail Aremu Akinde, stated that the institution has received a directive from the Hon. Minster of Education that staff and students should continue with their Jobs and lectures without fear.
Dr. (Mrs) Iro-Idoro assured the participants that the management has put all necessary measures in place in order to provide adequate security for staff and students to enjoy uninterrupted and peaceful environment for which our Polytechnic is known for.
The Guest speaker, Tpl. A.T Ajala, Ph.D delivered a lecture titled : Emergence of a New Generation of Students' Leaders The lecture, a practical session was based on Knowledge Transfer.
As an acclaimed former student
activist, Tpl. Ajala admonished the students on three points thus; not to act on the scripts of people whose intentions they don not know; to be upright in all their dealings as the society and posterity will duly reward them and to remember that
whatever they do today, is a story for the future.
The the Chairman Guidance and Counseling Committee, Mr. B. F. Umar and the School Counselor, Mrs Rose Taiwo took turn to address the students on the benefits in assessing the Guidance and Counseling facilities in the Institution.
Other principal officers of the polytechnic were ably represented; Mr Olusola Ojo for the Registrar, Mrs A.C. Olumomi for The Polytechnic Librarian and
Mr T. A. Bada for the Bursar.
The event was also graced by Deans of schools;
Dr. Dr. J.I. Orija, School of Communication and Information Technology, Engr. Dr. S. A. Adegbenro, School of Engineering, Mr O.M° Makanjuola, School of Pure and Applied Sciences, Dr. Mrs. R. T. Oyede, School of Agriculture, while Mr Akeem Kamar represented the Dean, School of Management Studies.
Others included Dr.J. O. Omowunmi, Dean, Directorate of Student Affairs , Dr. E.O. Oduntan Director, Open Distance and Flexible E-learning, members of the Guardiance and Counseling Committee, departmental counselors as well as students leaders.
