FUTI MOURNS ONIPOKIA
The Ag. Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Ilaro(FUTI), Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, FCA, FCTI, ACS, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff and students of the University mourns the demise of ONIPOKIA of IPOKIA Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Olusola Yisa Olaniyan, Orijajoogun1, who joined his ancestors at a very tender age of 55, having reigned just for five years. It is really sad. The University Community prays that the Almighty God comforts the entire Ipokia Kingdom.
According to the Acting Vice Chancellor, the death of the 46th Onipokia is not only a monumental loss to the good people of Ipokia Kingdom, Yewaland, Ogun State, Yoruba race in general, but to the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI) in particular.
It could be recalled that the late monarch usually attended our Convocation Ceremonies in the past. He was even represented by
Otunba Titus Adebayo Babajide, (popularly known as Oppressor),
the Asiwaju of Ipokia Kingdom at our last convocation ceremony in April this year where he donated handsomely for the developments of the Staff Club of the University.
It should be noted that the Council, the Management and the students maintain long standing and cordial relationships with Ipokia kingdom, towns, industries and gown relationships in the entire Ogun West where the Institution is situated.
Recently, the students, Heads of Department(Dr. Olapeju Olasunkanmi) and staff of the Urban and Regional Planning of the University assisted to prepare the Master Plan and Urban Renewal Projects for Ipokia kingdom, for which the Base Plan was presented a couple of weeks ago.
The University’s Management with heavy hearts on behalf of the Council, Management, students and staff commiserate with Otunba Titus Adebayo Babajide (Oppressor), the
Asiwaju of Ipokia Kingdom, the Chiefs and the Ipokia-In Council, the Yewa Traditional Council, Ogun State Council of Obas ably headed by the Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Dr. (ESV) Kehinde Gbadewole, Agunloye IV, and the sons and daughters of Ipokia both at home and in diaspora over the demise of the Kabiesi. It's our prayer that Almighty Allah will repose the soul of the late monarch and grant him Aljanah fridaus, Ameen.
