NATIONAL BOARD FOR TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION CENTRE HOLDS STRATEGIC MEETING WITH WITH FPI MANAGEMENT
The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) yesterday held a strategic meeting with the management of The Federal Polythethic, Ilaro, with the aim to mobilising and sentising innovators for their upcoming NEXT GEN INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2026.
The National Board for Incubation ( NBTI) operates under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
In his welcome address, the Deputy Rector (academics ), Tpl Lukman Lasisi,
who represented the Rector, Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, FCA, FCTI, ACIS emphasized the vital role of technology in modern society, describing it as the key driver to economy growth and providing employment for job seekers.
Mr Ephraim Adegoke, the Zonal Director, National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) South West Zone explained that the Board is an organization dedicated to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship in Nigeria who empowers technology startups and business thrive.
Mr Adegoke stated that the persistent technological challenges confronting the nation insipired the NBTI to intiate the ground breaking project aimed at bridging long standing innovations and technology gaps
According to him, the Next Gen Innovation Challenge is a forward looking competition that unites young inventors, scientists, creators and entrepreneur, many others with ground breaking ideas but lack access to global exposure and investment.
According to Adegoke, the Next Gen Innovation Challenge 2026 will focus on:
* 3D animation
* Software and app development
* Safety and Tracking Devices
* Women in Tech and Gender- inclusive innovation amongst others
He also added that the challenge objectives include, provision of mentorship, feasibility, collaboration, etc.
The strategic meeting was well attended by Deans of Schools, Directors of Service Units and Heads of various departments of the institution.
In the entourage of the Zonal Director were Mr Ifedayo Agoro, the Manager, Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Abeokuta, Mr Gabriel Oguntayo, Assistant Center Manager, (TCI) Owode Extension, and Mrs Durosinmi-Etti Olufunke, Head of Technical Department amongst others.
