SON LAUDED FPI COVID-19 EQUIPMENT FABRICATIONS

The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has expressed satisfaction over the fabrications of four equipment for the prevention and treatment of Corona Virus Disease popularly known worldwide wide as Covid-19.

This was made known today by the Ogun State Co-ordinator of the organization, Engr. Jerome Otene Umoru during the official presentation of four Covid-19 equipment designed and fabricated by the Polytechnic at the Raheem Oloyo International Conference Center.

The equipment presented include

*Ventilators (Models 1and 2) Multiple Outlets  Mechanical Hand Washing Machine*,

*Electronically Operated  Walkthrough Door Disinfectant*

*and Movable Environmental Sanitizer*

Inspecting the equipment, the SON representatives commended the institution for a job well done and assured that the equipment will be subjected to all necessary tests so as to confirm that they meet international standards and that SON was ready to partner with the institution in certifying  the equipment as fit for universal usage.

Conducting the team round the innovations, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Arc. Olusegun Olarewaju Aluko, Ph. D said the equipment were fabricated as the institution's contributions towards the curtailing the spread and treatment of Corona Virus Disease, adding that all the materials used for the fabrication of these equipment were locally sourced.

Arc Aluko hinted that if governments at all levels could provide financial support, the Polytechnic can produce the equipment en-mass.

The leader of the research team and the Dean School of Engineering, Engr (Dr.) S. A. Odunlami and other members of the team took time to explain the workings of the equipment which were allowed to be test-used by as many people as possible.

On the entourage of the SON's team are the Chief Standard Officer, Mr Ajagbonna Michael, the Principal Standard Engineer, Engr. Aondosseer Adikpo, the Principal Standard Officer, Mrs Angela Okisor.

Joining the Rector to welcome the team were the Principal officers, Deans of School, Directors of Service Units and staff of the Polytechnic.
