TACKLE ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES THROUGH RESEARCH - Prof. Badejo
Environmental Scholars have been urged to tackle Environmental Challenges through Interdisciplinary Research
This assertion was made by the Lagos state former Commissioner for Transportation, Prof. Bamidele Abiona Badejo of the School of Transportation, Lagos state University, Ojo.
Prof. Badejo, alongside Prof. (Mrs) Margaret Oluwagbemisola Areo, a Professor of Art , Ladoke Akintola University of Technology paid a courtesy visit to the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro during the recently held 10th National Conference of the School of Environmental Studies.
The duo, being Lead Paper Presenters during the Conference made a compelling call to action for environmental scholars to apply their expertise in solving real-world environmental problems.
He futher emphasized the need for scholars in the environmental field to take up the challenges of proffering sustainable solutions to the myriad of environmental issues facing the nation and the entire globe.
He encouraged the academic community to embrace interdisciplinary collaboration as a strategy for meaningful impact.
Responding on behalf of the Rector, Tpl. Lukmon Lasisi, Deputy Rector Administration, welcomed the team, led by the Dean, School of Environmental Studies, QS. J. A. B. Awolesi, acknowledge the Key note Presenter, QS Obafemi Onashile, President Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) and the Chairman of the occasion, ESV. Johnbull Osarumen Amayaevbo, the immediate past President, Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyor and Valuers (NIESV) for their contributions overtime to the growth and depth of the field.

Lasisi reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s dedication to supporting academic research and innovation.
He praised the various Schools of the institution for living up to expectations of consistency in organizing the annual conferences that are environmental solution centered.
Lasisi, was quick to note that the 2025 theme for the School of Environmental Studies “Sustainable Built Environment: Harnessing Interdisciplinary Collaboration” was both timely and appropriate.
He stated, “This theme rightly speaks to the urgency of integrating various disciplines in designing and implementing strategies for a resilient and sustainable built environment.”
The Registrar Mrs A F Babatola, FCBAN and Mr Ajayi Owolabi, representing the Bursar were all on ground to receive the team.
The team, led by the Dean of School, included ESV. Mukail Olaniran, Chairman SES Conference Planning Committee, Mr Seyi Oluwagbemisola, Mr Eleshin O.G And Trpt. F O Salako
The Conference presentations and technical sessions were filled with highly impactful solutions that aligned with global sustainability goals.
