What we do in the Department of Quantity Surveying

Overview

The department was established in June 2003 after gaining autonomy from the joint Department of Building and Quantity Surveying after a Resource Inspection and subsequent approval by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Consequently, thirteen (13) pioneer students were enrolled for studies in 2003/2004 academic year. However, the Department at this ND level was co-ordinated by the Department of Building Technology until April, 2005 when it became fully autonomous with the appointment of a substantive Head of Department. The Department produced its first set of ND graduates in 2006 and since then has been consistent in producing subsequent sets to date. The N.B.T.E Resource Inspection Team visited the department in November 2007, and approval to admit students for HND programme to the department granted with effect from October 2007. The first batch of students for HND programme resumed 2008/2009 session and graduated in 2010. Accreditation was granted for HND programme with effect from 1st October, 2009. Presently, we are eight (8) staff in the Department with one on study leave. Members of staff have been undergoing various programmes of workshops, conferences, etc. to improve their skills. You are most welcome to this resourceful department that has produced professionals for both public and private sectors of the economy.
