What we do in the Department of Public Administration

Overview

The department offers National Diploma [ND] and Higher National Diploma [HND] in Public Administration on two-year programme each. The course provides in-depth analysis and information about the business of governance and management. It deals comprehensively with all elements involved in the public sector, explaining their interactions and how they influence national or organizational decision making. The course discusses various dynamics of management, including funding, politics, projects management, human resources management policy analysis, public finance, comparative administration, community development and governance. The study of Public Administration span to study in schools, organizations and business entities to government agencies, all facets of the society thrive on functional administrative skills and wide knowledge of human relationship. Upon the completion of the course, you would be a professional and stakeholder in the field of Public Administration and respected to have acquired the rare skills of managing public resources excellently.

Our Objectives

The objectives are to Promote a broad-based education designed to sharpen students’ communication skills, their realization of the need for the cross-fertilization of ideas and the inter-relatedness of the various disciplines as well as bridging the gap between what would have been otherwise two separate cultures. Inculcate the idea of national loyalty and understanding based on an awareness of the nation’s root and cultural antecedents, thus enabling students to come to grips with our societal morals, national aspirations, values and problems and equip students with support skills and knowledge to assist them in their professional disciplines.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) PROGRAMMES

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) PROGRAMMES

Applicants seeking Higher National Diploma [HND] admission must possess the basic entry requirements for the National Diploma Programme.  In addition, the applicant must possess the ND in Public Administration obtained at not less than the Lower Credit level from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro or from any other Polytechnic accredited for the programme, or its recognised equivalent plus a minimum of one [1] year post qualification relevant industrial work experience. The candidate should also request his or her institution to forward his or her official academic transcript under confidential cover to the Registrar, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
